Screamboat 2025
Screamboat is an American slasher film directed by Steven LaMorte (One Stop Away, Trials of Ember, Bury Me Twice, The Mean One), who also co-wrote the screenplay with Matthew Garcia-Dunn. It is a horror reimagining of Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks’s 1928 animated short film, Steamboat Willie. Screamboat is set to be released in select US theaters on January 31, 2025.
The horror comedy is produced by Steven Della Salla, Steven LaMorte, Michael Leavy, Martine Melloul, and Amy Schumacher. Screamboat stars David Howard Thornton, Jesse Kove, Jesse Posey, Charles Edwin Powell, and Amy Schumacher.
Screamboat follows a group of New Yorkers who are terrorized by a m–derous version of Mickey Mouse. While the Walt Disney Company retains exclusive rights to the depictions of Mickey Mouse from their own franchise, the Steamboat Willie version of the character entered the public domain on January 1, 2024. One day later, Screamboat was announced.
