Matlock is an American legal drama television series that premiered with a sneak peek on September 22, 2024, before its timeslot premiere on October 17, 2024 on CBS. The show was developed by Jennie Snyder Urman. It is a reboot of the original 1986-1995 version of Matlock which starred Andy Griffith, but with a gender flipped lead character played by Kathy Bates. In October 2024, the series was renewed for a second season.
The series follows Madeline Kingston, a brilliant retired lawyer who rejoins the work force at Jacobson Moore, a prestigious law firm. Using the alias of needy widow Matty Matlock, she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases and expose corruption from within.
