The Irrational is based on the life of Dan Ariely and on his 2008 non-fiction book Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions.
Premise: Professor Alec Mercer is a world-renowned professor of behavioral psychology, especially human irrationality. Mercer cooperates with the police and FBI when they need his help with special cases. His interest in the field started after a bombing left him scarred, and aspects from this case begin to surface once again.
