The Abandon tells the story of injured U.S. soldier Miles Willis, who awakens after witnessing a blinding white light from a battlefield in Iraq to discover he is trapped in a mysterious cube armed only with his combat gear. His dire situation escalates as the cube begins to change with violent shifts in gravity and the appearance of cryptic writing on the walls.
As Miles begins to question his sanity, he finds a lifeline – a voice on the other end of his satellite phone who claims to be a prisoner in a similar space. The Abandon 2024
The Abandon is directed by filmmaker Jason Satterlund (The Human Trace, The Record Keeper, Legacy), from a screenplay written by Dwain Worrell. It is scheduled to be released by Lionsgate in select US theaters on July 19, 2024 and will be available on Digital and On Demand starting July 30, 2024.
The sci-fi horror thriller film is produced by Victoria Hadeler and Regis Terencio. The Abandon had its world premiere at the 2022 Mammoth Film Festival on February 6, 2022. Starring Jonathan Rosenthal, Tamara Perry, Regis Terencio, Dan Kyle, and Priscilla Avila.
The Abandon bagged five wins from different film festivals including Best Picture and Best Actor at the LA Indie Film Fest; Best Science Fiction at the Montreal Independent Film Festival; and Best Screenplay and Best Actor at the Tiete International Film Awards.
