North of Normal is 2022 Canadian drama film, directed by Carly Stone, in her second feature after the acclaimed 2018 romantic comedy drama The New Romantic. The screenplay is written by Alexandra Weir, based on the 2014 memoir of the same name by Cea Sunrise Person. It is set to be released in the US On Demand and Digital on April 9, 2024, by Quiver Distribution.
The film is produced by Jonathan Bronfman and Kyle Mann. It premiered in the Contemporary World Cinema program at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2022. North of Normal stars Sarah Gadon, James D’Arcy, Amanda Fix, Robert Carlyle, and Benedict Samuel.
North of Normal centers on writer Cea Sunrise Person’s unconventional childhood living in the wilderness, her complicated relationship with her hippie mother, and her incredible path to a version of normalcy.
