Renegade Nell (formerly titled The Ballad of Renegade Nell) is a British historical adventure television series written and created by BAFTA-award-winning writer Sally Wainwright. The series is set for a streaming debut exclusively on Disney+ on March 29, 2024.
Set in England, 1705, the series follows Nell Jackson, who turns her hand to highway robbery to survive, after she was framed for m–der. Aided by her superpowered sidekick, a plucky little sprite called Billy Blind, Nell realises that fate has put her on the wrong side of the law for a reason much bigger than she could have ever imagined: to defeat a magical plot against the Queen of England.
“Renegade Nell” is produced by Lookout Point, with Sally Wainwright, Ben Taylor, Faith Penhale, Will Johnston, Louise Mutter, and Johanna Devereaux serving as executive producers. Lead director for the series is Ben Taylor (Se- Education), with Amanda Brotchie (Gentleman Jack) and MJ Delaney (Ted Lasso) also directing episodes. The series stars Louisa Harland in the leading role of Nell Jackson, with Joely Richardson, Frank Dillane, Alice Kremelberg, Adrian Lester, and Nick Mohammed.
