Will Trent is an American police procedural crime drama television series created by Karin Slaughter, Liz Heldens, and Daniel T. Thomsen, based on Slaughter’s bestselling book series about Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI). The series premiered on January 3, 2023, on ABC and was renewed for a second season, which will premiere on February 20, 2024.
The series follows Will Trent, who was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. But now, despite being dyslexic, he has become a Special Agent in the GBI, solving the highest proportion of cases in the bureau. His boss, Amanda Wagner, assigns Faith Mitchell, temporary GBI status as Trent’s partner. Trent also has an on-again off-again relationship with his childhood friend from the foster care system, APD Detective Angie Polaski, who is partnered with APD Detective Michael Ormewood.
