Seagrass 2024
Seagrass is a Canadian drama film, written and directed by Meredith Hama-Brown, in her feature directorial debut. It is set to be released by Game Theory Films in select Canadian and US theaters on February 23, 2024.
The film is produced by Sara Blake and Tyler Hagan. Seagrass had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on September 8, 2023, where it was named the winner of the FIPRESCI Prize. The film also reaped more accolades in different film festivals including Outstanding Canadian Feature Film Award at the Cinefest Sudbury; and Best Supporting Female Actor in a Canadian Film, Best British Columbia Film, and Best Director of a British Columbia Film at the Vancouver Film Critics Circle (VFCC).
Seagrass stars Ally Maki as Judith, a woman who is at a family retreat with her husband Steve (Luke Roberts) and their children following the death of her mother. At the same time, Judith and Steve are coping with tensions in their marriage arising from their status as an interracial couple.
