On the Line 2024
1964. Channel Islands, UK, Agnes, a 24-year-old switchboard operator passes time listening to phone conversations while connecting people. When she receives a distressing call from Shirley who suffers from dementia suggesting a kidnapping, Agnes alerts the police. As more callers share information, Agnes deduces that Harold, a workman, is the ki—pper.
She assists the police in tracking him, but the situation becomes complex. Eventually, Martha is found, but Harold contemplates suicide. Drawing from her own experiences, Agnes talks him down, bringing hope to both of them. Her day ends with both Harold and Agnes having new hope for the future.
