Bank of Dave is a British biographical comedy film directed by Chris Foggin (Kids in Love, Fisherman’s Friends, This Is Christmas), from a screenplay written by Piers Ashworth. Bank of Dave is set to be released on August 25, 2023 in select US theaters and on VOD, by Samuel Goldwyn Films.
The comedy film is produced by Karl Hall, Ridoyanul Hoq, Neil Jones for Future Artists Entertainment, Piers Tempest, and Matt Williams. It was released in the United Kingdom on January 16, 2023 by Netflix, a day after its premiere at REEL Cinema in Burnley. Bank of Dave stars Rory Kinnear, Joel Fry, Phoebe Dynevor, Jo Hartley, Paul Kaye, and Hugh Bonneville.
Bank of Dave tells the true story of Dave Fishwick, who sells vans in Burnley, Lancashire. In the wake of the last financial crisis he started lending money at reduced rates to his customers and local businesses. When some of those businesses start making money, they ask Dave to reinvest it for them, thereby giving him the idea to set up a tiny local bank that uses local money to fund local enterprise. He will call it: The Bank of Dave. But the elite, London based financial authorities, haven’t granted a new bank license for over 150 years. Dave enlists the help of a London lawyer, junior doctor Alexandra and some local rock legends to help fight the good cause.
