Makeup is directed by British filmmaker Hugo André, in his feature directorial debut. The screenplay is written by Will Masheter and Hugo Andre. It is set to be released on June 27, 2023 by Freestyle Digital Media on VOD and On Digital.
The drama film is produced by Hugo Andre and Lucas A. Ferrara. Makeup premiered at the 2021 Lonely Wolf Film Festival. It has received four awards so far, including September Award – Best Feature Film at the New York Movie Awards; Best Poster at the Paris Play Film Festival; Jury Award – Best Feature Film at the Europe Film Festival U.K.; and Honorable Mention – Grand Prix: Best Feature Film at the Brno International Noncommercial Film and Video Festival.
Makeup tells the story of Sacha (Hugo André), an introverted French ex-chef who moves to London to begin his new life as a food critic. Moving into a rented room in a house belonging to Dan (Will Masheter), a well-respected London stockbroker, they are forced into an unlikely friendship. As time goes on, Dan attempts to hide his aspirations of becoming a b—esque dancer from those who perceive him as an alpha male.
