The Ancestral 2023
The Ancestral, also known as Bóng Ðè in Vietnamese, is directed by acclaimed Vietnamese filmmaker Le-Van Kiet (Dust of Life, House in the Alley, Gentle, The Rich Woman, Furie, The Requin, The Princess). The screenplay is also written by Kiet, with Vo Nguyen Dan as contributing writer. Kiet’s 2019 film Furie broke the record for highest-grossing Vietnamese film in history and was selected as Vietnam’s entry for Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. The Ancestral is set to be released in the US on May 2, 2023 On Digital and streaming on Screambox, by Cinedigm.
The film is produced by Nguyen Le Lan Anh, Le-Van Kiet, and Dan Trong Tran. The Ancestral already opened on March 18, 2022 in Vietnam and in some parts of Europe in 2022.
