The twenty-fourth season of the American crime-drama television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (aka Law & Order: SVU or simply SVU) premiered on September 22, 2022, with an epic crossover premiere event. The season is produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, with David Graziano as the new showrunner, replacing Warren Leight. Kelli Giddish, who plays the role of Amanda Rollins, left SVU during the first half of season 24, after 12 years on the show. Newcomer Molly Burnett was promoted to series regular beginning with the seventh episode.
Law & Order: SVU was created by Dick Wolf for NBC and is the first spinoff of Law & Order. The show premiered on September 20, 1999. On April 10, 2023, the series was renewed for a 25th season. It stars Mariska Hargitay as Captain Olivia Benson, the commanding officer of the Special Victims Unit in a fictionalized version of the New York City Police Department. Law & Order: SVU follows the style of the original Law & Order in that some episodes are loosely based on real c–mes that have received media attention.
