The twenty-fourth season of the American crime-drama television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (aka Law & Order: SVU or simply SVU) premiered on September 22, 2022, with an epic crossover premiere event. The season is produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, with David Graziano as the new showrunner, replacing Warren Leight. Kelli Giddish, who plays the role of Amanda Rollins, left SVU during season 24, after 12 years on the show. Newcomer Molly Burnett joins the recurring cast as Detective Grace Muncy.
Law & Order: SVU was created by Dick Wolf for NBC. The show premiered on September 20, 1999. It is the first spinoff of Law & Order and stars Mariska Hargitay as Captain Olivia Benson, the commanding officer of the Special Victims Unit in a fictionalized version of the New York City Police Department. The series follows the style of the original Law & Order in that some episodes are loosely based on real c–mes that have received media attention.
