Set in the late 19th century, Godland follows Lucas (Elliot Crosset Hove), an idealistic but naive young Danish Lutheran clergyman, who is on his way to a remote part of Iceland to build a church and photograph its people. Startattle.com – Vanskabte Land movie.

Sigurðsson), he must journey across the spectacular and dangerous terrain, littered with glaciers and rivers. Vanskabte Land movie
Godland (Icelandic: Volaða land, Danish: Vanskabte Land) is an internationally co-produced drama film, written and directed by acclaimed Icelandic filmmaker Hlynur Pálmason (Winter Brothers, “A White, White Day”). It is scheduled to be released by Janus Films in select US theaters on February 3, 2023 (NY).
This epic psychological film premiered in the Un Certain Regard program at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival on May 24, 2022. Godland is produced by Eva Jakobsen, Mikkel Jersin, Katrin Pors, and Anton Máni Svansson.
Godland was selected as Denmark’s 2022 submission for the Nordic Council Film Prize. It has also received six awards including Gold Hugo – Best Feature and Silver Hugo – Best Cinematography at the Chicago International Film Festival 2022; Best Film – Honourable Mention at the London Film Festival 2022; RIGA IFF Award – Feature Film Competition at the Riga International Film Festival; and Zabaltegi-Tabakalera Prize at the San Sebastian International Film Festival.
