The twenty-second season of the American reality television series The Voice is set to premiere September 19, 2022 on NBC. Blake Shelton and John Legend are set to return as coaches for their twenty-second and seventh seasons respectively. Gwen Stefani, who last coached on season 19, is set to return as a coach for her sixth season. Camila Cabello is set to make her first appearance as a coach this season. Meanwhile, Carson Daly will return as host for his twenty-second season. Beginning with this primetime scheduling cycle, only one season of The Voice will air per cyclical year.
“Amarillo by Morning” is a country music song written by Terry Stafford and Paul Fraser, and recorded by Stafford in 1973. Several cover versions have since been made, including a major 1983 hit for George Strait. The song is sung from the point of view of a rodeo cowboy, driving at night from San Antonio to a county fair in Amarillo, that will begin the following morning. The man recounts the hardships his occupation has caused him, including divorce, broken bones, and poverty, but states that he does not regret his lifestyle: “I ain’t rich/ But Lord, I’m free.” The song has appeared in several lists of the best country songs.
