Prey is an American science fiction action film directed by Dan Trachtenberg, his second feature after directing the acclaimed drama thriller 10 Cloverfield Lane. The screenplay is written by Patrick Aison, based on the Predator franchise by Jim Thomas and John Thomas. It is the fifth installment in the franchise and a prequel to the first four Predator films. Prey serves as an origin story for the main villains and explains how the villains came to the Earth for the first time.
