The twentieth season of the reality show singing competition American Idol premiered on February 27, 2022 on the ABC television network. It is the fifth season to air on ABC since the series’ revival. Ryan Seacrest returned as host, and Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie returned as judges. Bobby Bones did not return as in-house mentor.
“Cover Me Up” is a song written and originally recorded by American country music singer Jason Isbell. It is the first track on his 2013 studio album Southeastern. Six years later, country music singer Morgan Wallen covered the song, and it was included on his 2021 album Dangerous: The Double Album. In November 2020, Wallen’s cover of “Cover Me Up” was announced as one of the tracks on his then-upcoming album Dangerous: The Double Album. Wallen’s version is co-produced by Joey Moi and Dave Cohen.
