The Righteous Gemstones is an American black comedy c–me television series created, written, and executive produced by Danny McBride that premiered on August 18, 2019, on HBO. The series follows a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed, and charitable work. In September 2019, HBO renewed the series for a second season and in October 2021, the series was renewed for a third season.
The second season of The Righteous Gemstones debuts its nine-episode second season with two new episodes on January 9, 2022 (10:00-11:25pm ET/PT), followed by additional half-hour episodes on subsequent Sundays at the same time. The series debuts on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. Season Two finds the Gemstone family threatened by outsiders from both the past and present who wish to destroy their empire.
