The Last Thing Mary Saw 2022
Set in 1843 New York, a young woman named Mary (Stefanie Scott) is interrogated about the events surrounding her grandmother’s d–th. The story jumps back in time and shows Mary, raised in a repressively religious household, finding fleeting happiness in the arms of Eleanor (Isabelle Fuhrman), the home’s maid. Her family, who believe they are acting on God’s behalf, view the girls’ relationship as an abomination, to be dealt with as severely as possible. The couple attempt to carry on in secret, but someone is always watching, or listening, and the wages of perceived sin threaten to become death. The tension is heightened by the arrival of an enigmatic stranger (Rory Culkin) and the revelation of greater forces at work.
The Last Thing Mary Saw is an American horror-drama thriller film written and directed by Edoardo Vitaletti, in his feature directorial debut. It is produced by Harrison Allen, Isen Robbins, Aimee Schoof, Madeleine Schumacher, and Stephen Tedeschi. The film stars Rory Culkin, Isabelle Fuhrman, Stefanie Scott, Carolyn McCormick, and Judith Roberts.
The film had its world premiere at the 2021 Fantasia International Film Festival on August 15, 2021. The Last Thing Mary Saw will be streaming exclusively on Shudder starting January 20, 2022.
