La Brea is an American drama television series that premiered on NBC on September 28, 2021. The series, produced by Keshet Studios and Universal Television, is created by David Appelbaum, who also serves as one of its executive producers.
An epic adventure begins when a massive sinkhole opens in the middle of Los Angeles at the site of the La Brea Tar Pits and Wilshire Boulevard, pulling hundreds of people and buildings into its depths. The survivors find themselves trapped in a mysterious and dangerous primeval land, where they have no choice but to band together to survive. Meanwhile, the rest of the world desperately seeks to understand what happened. The sinkhole and the sudden appearance of the Teratornis, a species dating back to about 12,000 years ago, has attracted the attention of the US Department of Homeland Security who are studying a similar event in the Mojave Desert. In the search for answers, one family torn apart by this disaster will have to unlock the secrets of this inexplicable event to find a way back to each other.
