The Polity and the Union remained locked in a brutal and unforgiving war, when, after sustaining devastating injuries, pilot Julian Chase (Jordan) returns from the dead in the form of a Holon warrior, one of a select few whose mind is compatible with the mech-suit Gen:Lock program. Dr. Weller works to crack the gen:LOCK code while Chase, Miranda, Cammie, and their team of Polity fighters fend off the authoritarian Union. But as the war rages on, Chase must decide if he’s willing to sacrifice everything – including friends, family, and his own humanity – to save an increasingly hostile world.

Gen:Lock takes place fifty years in the future and tells the story of an oppressive authoritarian force that threatens to conquer the world. The show follows the gen:LOCK program and its members, who participate in the experimental technology which allows individuals with unique mental make ups to have their minds uploaded to giant suits of mecha armor called “Holon”.
The series is an American anime-influenced adult animated science fiction web series created by Gray Haddock and produced by Rooster Teeth. It is executive produced by Michael B. Jordan alongside Matt Hullum, Gray Haddock, Alana Mayo, Dan Shorr, and Ryan P. Hall. Adult Swim ran the first eight episodes of Gen:Lock from August 3, 2019 to September 21, 2019 on its Toonami programming block. Season 2 would premiere on HBO Max on November 4, 2021 and on Rooster Teeth FIRST 90 days later.
