The Unforgivable tells the story of Ruth Slater (Sandra Bullock), a woman who is released from prison after serving a sentence for a violent crime and re-enters a society that refuses to forgive her past. Facing severe judgment from the place she once called home, her only hope for redemption is finding the estranged younger sister she was forced to leave behind.
This powerful drama film is directed by Nora Fingscheidt, the director of the highly acclaimed and multi-awarded 2019 film System Crasher. The screenplay is written by Peter Craig, Hillary Seitz, and Courtenay Miles, based on the 2009 British miniseries Unforgiven by Sally Wainwright. Filming took place in Vancouver in February 2020 and, after halting due to the COVID-19 pandemic, concluded in October.
