Nick Cannon, singer-songwriter Robin Thicke, television and radio personality Jenny McCarthy, actor and comedian Ken Jeong, and recording artist Nicole Scherzinger will all return as host and panelists. The panelists also will again compete for the Golden Ear during the season. Guest panelists will include Leslie Jordan, Joel McHale, will.i.am, and Cheryl Hines.
The season will feature two groups, Group A and Group B. For the first time in the show’s history, the winner of each group will face-off against each other in the season finale episode. Wild cards, a concept introduced in the previous season, will also return, being added to each group throughout the season to compete for the “Golden Mask” trophy themselves. The contestants in this season are reported to have a combined 85 Grammy nominations, 27 Grammy wins, 12 Emmy nominations, 12 Razzie Award nominations, three Academy Award nominations, two Super Bowl appearances, and two lifetime achievement awards.
“What Hurts the Most” is a song written by American songwriter Jeffrey Steele and English songwriter Steve Robson. Initially recorded by country music artist Mark Wills in 2003 on his album And the Crowd Goes Wild, it was covered by Bellefire a year later. The first version to be released as a single was by pop singer Jo O’Meara in 2005, from the album Relentless. Later that year, country band Rascal Flatts covered the song as well, releasing it as the first single from the 2006 album Me and My Gang, topping the U.S country and adult contemporary charts with it. German band Cascada later had international chart success with the song in 2007. It was also covered by Eden in 2008.
