Gossip Girl is the revival of the original series Gossip Girl (2007-2012), confirmed to be an “extension” of its predecessor. Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media and the landscape of New York itself, has changed in the intervening years.
This American teen drama streaming television series created for HBO Max is developed by original series’ executive producer Joshua Safran. It is executive produced by original series’ co-creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, along with Safran, who also serves as showrunner. It features the return of Kristen Bell as the narrator, an anonymous and omniscient blogger known as “Gossip Girl”. The series premiered on HBO Max on July 8, 2021. Its first season will consist of 12 episodes.
