The Most Beautiful Boy in the World 2021
In 1970, filmmaker Luchino Visconti travelled throughout Europe looking for the perfect boy to personify absolute beauty in his adaptation of Thomas Mann’s Death in Venice. He discovered a shy 15-year-old teenager named Björn Andrésen in Stockholm, and brought him to international fame overnight. Andresen spent a short but intense part of his turbulent youth between the Lido in Venice, London, the Cannes Film Festival and Japan. He was just 16 when Visconti’s masterpiece came out, and was unprepared for instantly becoming an international celebrity.
The Most Beautiful Boy in the World is produced by Stina Gardell. The film premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival on January 29, 2021, where it received a nomination for the World Cinema Documentary Grand Jury Prize. The Most Beautiful Boy in the World will debut in UK cinemas on July 30, 2021.
