After stealing the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), an alternate version of Loki is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization that monitors the timeline. They give Loki a choice: face being erased from existence, or help fix the timeline and stop a greater threat. Loki is an American television series created by Michael Waldron for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it shares continuity with the films of the franchise and will be part of Phase Four of the MCU. The series is produced by Marvel Studios. Loki is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on June 9, 2021, and will consist of six episodes. A second season is in development.
Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as Loki from the film series, with Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Wunmi Mosaku also starring. Filming for the series began in January 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia, but was halted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production was later completed in December 2020.
