The nineteenth season of the reality show singing competition American Idol premiered on February 14, 2021 on the ABC television network. It is the fourth season to air on ABC since the series reboot; Ryan Seacrest returns as host. Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie return as judges and Bobby Bones as mentor.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, the show offered its first ever live virtual auditions to aspiring contestants through its Idol Across America program using custom-built Zoom technology. The remote auditions took place from August 10 to October 28, 2020 in 50 states plus Washington, D.C. as well as a number of open call auditions, and from these the producers selected the contestants who can then audition in front of the judges.
“Yellow” is a song by the British rock band Coldplay. The band wrote the song and co-produced it with British record producer Ken Nelson for their debut album, Parachutes (2000). The song was recorded in March 2000 and released on 26 June that same year as the second UK single from Parachutes, following “Shiver”, and as the lead single in the United States.
