Spirit Untamed is an American computer-animated adventure film produced by DreamWorks Animation. It is a standalone sequel to Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (made in traditional animation) as well as being based on the Netflix spin-off television series Spirit Riding Free. The film is an epic adventure about a headstrong girl named Lucy Prescott (Isabela Merced) who’s longing for a place to belong. This western animation film is directed by Elaine Bogan, in her feature directorial debut, and co-directed by Ennio Torresan. The screenplay is written by Aury Wallington, Kristin Hahn, and Katherine Nolfi based on Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron by Kelly Asbury and Lorna Cook and on Spirit Riding Free by Aury Wallington. The voice cast includes Isabela Moner, Jake Gyllenhaal, Julianne Moore, Marsai Martin, and Mckenna Grace.

Spirit Untamed 2021
Lucky Prescott (Isabela Merced) never really knew her late mother, Milagro Navarro (Eiza González), a fearless horse-riding stunt performer from the small town Miradero. Lucky has grown up in an East Coast city under Aunt Cora’s (Julianne Moore) watchful eye. But when Lucky had one too many risky escapades, Cora moves them both back with Lucky’s father, Jim (Jake Gyllenhaal), in Miradero. Lucky is unimpressed with the sleepy little town. She has a change of heart when she meets Spirit, a wild Mustang who shares her independent streak, and befriends two local horseback riders, Abigail Stone (Mckenna Grace) and Pru Granger (Marsai Martin). When a cruel horse wrangler (Walton Goggins) and his team plan to capture Spirit, Lucky and her friends go to rescue him.
This family adventure film from Dreamworks will premiere on May 14, 2021 at the BFI London Film Festival. It is scheduled to be released in the US on June 4, 2021 in RealD 3D, IMAX and Dolby Atmos.
