Everyone was caught by surprise when guest host Niecy Nash picked who should be eliminated from the competition. She chose Bulldog without hesitation. When Bulldog was unmasked, his identity was revealed as none other than The Masked Singer host himself, Nick Cannon, who has been absent for the past 4 weeks.
The fifth season of the American television series The Masked Singer had its premiere on Fox on March 10, 2021.
Singer-songwriter Robin Thicke, television and radio personality Jenny McCarthy, actor and comedian Ken Jeong, and recording artist Nicole Scherzinger returned for their fifth season as panelists. Regular host Nick Cannon tested positive for COVID-19 a few days before production was set to begin in February 2021. Niecy Nash is currently the guest host for an unannounced number of episodes.
The season began with two groups of five, Group A and Group B, then will introduce a new twist in which “wild card” contestants will enter the competition throughout the run of the show for a chance to unseat another contestant. The contestants for Season 5 have a combined “26 Grammy nominations, nine multi-platinum singles, four Oscar nominations, three Super Bowl appearances, six gold medals and two world records among them”. Costumes for this season include Black Swan, Chameleon, Grandpa Monster, Phoenix, Piglet, Raccoon, Robopine, Russian Dolls, Seashell, and Snail. This season also includes a non-contestant mask called “Cluedle-Doo”, who will interrupt the show and give out new clues.
“Candy Girl” was released in February 1983 as the debut single from New Edition’s debut album of the same name. The song hit number one on the UK Singles Chart and also peaked at #1 on the Hot Black Singles chart on May 14, 1983.
