The fifth season of the American television series The Masked Singer had its premiere on Fox on March 10, 2021.
Singer-songwriter Robin Thicke, television and radio personality Jenny McCarthy, actor and comedian Ken Jeong, and recording artist Nicole Scherzinger returned for their fifth season as panelists. Regular host Nick Cannon tested positive for COVID-19 a few days before production was set to begin in February 2021. Niecy Nash is currently the guest host for an unannounced number of episodes.
The season began with two groups of five, Group A and Group B, then will introduce a new twist in which “wild card” contestants will enter the competition throughout the run of the show for a chance to unseat another contestant. The contestants for Season 5 have a combined “26 Grammy nominations, nine multi-platinum singles, four Oscar nominations, three Super Bowl appearances, six gold medals and two world records among them”. Costumes for this season include Black Swan, Chameleon, Grandpa Monster, Phoenix, Piglet, Raccoon, Robopine, Russian Dolls, Seashell, and Snail. This season also includes a non-contestant mask called “Cluedle-Doo”, who will interrupt the show and give out new clues.
“We’re Not Gonna Take It” is a song from Twisted Sister’s album Stay Hungry. It was first released as a single on April 27, 1984. The single reached No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, making it Twisted Sister’s only Top 40 single. The song was ranked No. 47 on 100 Greatest 80’s Songs and No. 21 on VH1’s 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders of the 80s. The single has been certificated gold in US since 1984, selling more than 500,000 copies.
