For the second time, Drake, who was also a contestant on American Idol Season 17, did not make it to the Top 24. In Season 17, Drake was sent home after the Hawaii Round and did not make the Top 20.
Before delivering the bad news, Luke told Drake that his growth is really special and that he’s worthy of being on American Idol. Katy Perry added, “Let this be the fuel to your fire.”

The nineteenth season of the reality show singing competition American Idol premiered on February 14, 2021 on the ABC television network. It is the fourth season to air on ABC since the series reboot; Ryan Seacrest returns as host. Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie return as judges and Bobby Bones as mentor.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, the show offered its first ever live virtual auditions to aspiring contestants through its Idol Across America program using custom-built Zoom technology. The remote auditions took place from August 10 to October 28, 2020 in 50 states plus Washington, D.C. as well as a number of open call auditions, and from these the producers selected the contestants who can then audition in front of the judges.
“Country Girl (Shake It for Me)” was the first single released from Luke Bryan’s album Tailgates & Tanlines. Released in March 2011, it debuted at number 52 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. As of April 2014, it is the third best-selling song by a male country music solo artist.
