The Viking was unmasked during Episode 6 on The Masked Singer UK (Series 2). His identity was revealed after he was eliminated from the reality singing competition on January 30, 2021. Startattle.com – The Masked Singer UK.
Before he was unmasked, the Viking peformed “The Scientist” by Coldplay and landed in the bottom three along with Dragon and Blob. Dragon won the round while Viking and Blob were eliminated from the competition.
So who is the Viking on The Masked Singer UK 2021?
Viking was revealed as Norwegian vocalist and musician Morten Harket (age 61), best known as the lead singer of the synthpop/rock band a-ha, which has released 10 studio albums to date and topped the charts internationally after their breakthrough hit “Take On Me” in 1985.
A lot of The Masked Singer fans correctly guessed who the Viking is, and have been mentioning Harket’s name early on. Fans were also amused when Harket performed his own song “Take On Me” on Episode 5. But surprisingly, no one among The Masked Singer judges / panelists was able to guess his identity.

After Viking was unmasked, host Joel Dommett said that Morten Harket is the only person on the show so far, who’s ever sung his own song.
Asked what it was like being on The Masked Singer, Harket said he did it because he needed to be kicked out of his comfort zone. “And I have been,” he said. Harket continued, “It is fun to start to become another character. But I’ve never done anything like that before, never done theater, films, nothing.”
The clues for Viking were explained after the reveal. Morten’s hometown of Kongsberg in Norway translates to “King’s Rock”. “Over a billion people watched me” was a clue to “Take on Me” having over 1 billion YouTube views. “Steel has proved most useful in my career” refers to a-ha’s studion album ‘Cast in Steel’. A long list of notes was a reference to Morten’s fame for singing very long notes. In the surveillance VT, Viking said “A-HA” three times.
The second series of the British version of The Masked Singer premiered on ITV on December 26, 2020.
Joel Dommett, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, and Rita Ora all returned for their second season as host and panelists. Ken Jeong was replaced by British comedian Mo Gilligan on the panel for series two, due to travel restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic which prevented Jeong’s participation.
The series features 12 contestants, namely Alien, Badger, Blob, Bush Baby, Dragon, Grandfather Clock, Harlequin, Robin, Sausage, Seahorse, Swan, and Viking.
