The Masked Dancer (abbreviated as TMD) is an American reality competition television series that premiered on Fox on December 27, 2020. Craig Robinson hosts the show, with Ken Jeong, Paula Abdul, Brian Austin Green, and Ashley Tisdale serving as panelists. Like The Masked Singer’s format, celebrity contestants wear head-to-toe costumes and face masks that conceal their identities, but perform alongside a “masked partner” in different dance styles. The show began as a recurring segment on Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime talk show which spoofed The Masked Singer. In pre-production since January 2020, filming was delayed until October due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.
Actor and comedian Craig Robinson hosts the show. The Masked Singer panelist and comedian Ken Jeong, entertainer Paula Abdul, actor Brian Austin Green (who performed as “Giraffe” on The Masked Singer’s fourth season), and actress and singer Ashley Tisdale serve as panelists. Guest panelists included Cheryl Hines in the third episode and Rob Lowe in the fourth episode. Future guest panelists will include Whitney Cummings, Mayim Bialik, and Will Arnett.
Swan Lake, Op. 20, is a ballet composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1875-76. Despite its initial failure, it is now one of the most popular ballets of all time.
The scenario, initially in two acts, was fashioned from Russian and German folk tales and tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse. The choreographer of the original production was Julius Reisinger (Václav Reisinger). The ballet was premiered by the Bolshoi Ballet on 4 March 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Although it is presented in many different versions, most ballet companies base their stagings both choreographically and musically on the 1895 revival of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, first staged for the Imperial Ballet on 15 January 1895, at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. For this revival, Tchaikovsky’s score was revised by the St. Petersburg Imperial Theatre’s chief conductor and composer Riccardo Drigo.
