To Olivia tells the true story of renowned children’s book writer Roald Dahl (Hugh Bonneville) and glamourous Hollywood movie star Patrica Neal (Keeley Hawes). In 1962 Dahl and Neal have retreated to the English countryside to bring up their expanding young family. But their lives are tragically turned upside down by the devastating death of their daughter Olivia. Formerly titled An Unquiet Life, this British feature film is directed by John Hay (The Steal, There’s Only One Jimmy Grimble, The Truth About Love, Lost Christmas). Its screenplay is written by Hay and David Logan, based on Stephen Michael Shearer’s biography about Neal titled An Unquiet Life.
The film stars Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) as Roald Dahl, Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard) as Patricia Neal, and Sam Heughan (Outlander) as Paul Newman. It features Geoffrey Palmer in his final film appearance.

Roald Dahl was a British novelist whose books have sold more than 250 million copies worldwide. His works include the children’s classics James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The Witches, Fantastic Mr Fox, The BFG, The Twits, and George’s Marvellous Medicine. His adult works include Tales of the Unexpected, a collection of sixteen short stories.
Patricia Neal was an American actress best known for her film roles in The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) and Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961). She co-starred with Paul Newman in Hud (1963), and won an Oscar for Best Actress for her portrayal of worn-out housekeeper Alma Brown.
