Cherry follows the wild journey of a young man from Cleveland who meets the love of his life, only to risk losing her through a series of bad decisions and challenging life circumstances. He joins the army as a medic in Iraq and later suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He then becomes a serial bank robber after an addiction to drugs puts him in debt. Cherry is produced by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, together with Mike Larocca, Jonathan Gray, Matthew Rhodes, Jake Aust and Chris Castaldi. Executive producers include Edward Cheng, Kristy Maurer Grisham, Matthew Johnson, Dan Kaplow, Todd Makurath, Patrick Newall, Judd Payne, Angela Russo-Otstot, Nico Walker, Zhongjun Wang, and Zhonglei Wang. Cherry is set to be released in theaters on February 26, 2021, and on Apple TV+ on March 12, 2021.
Anthony and Joe Russo’s production company AGBO purchased the production rights to the novel in August 2018. In March 2019, Tom Holland entered talks to star in the film. The rest of the cast were added in October. Filming began on October 8, 2019, in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and concluded in February 2020.
