The Mushroom was unmasked during the finale on The Masked Singer 2020 (Season 4). He finished as runner-up to the Sun, who was voted as the winner of the reality singing competition. The Crocodile, meawhile, ended up in third place. Startattle.com – The Masked Singer.
Before he was unmasked, the Mushroom peformed “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder.
Not a lot of The Masked Singer fans were able to guess who the Mushroom is.
So who is the Mushroom on The Masked Singer?
The Mushroom was revealed as American singer-songwriter, rapper, and record producer Aloe Blacc. Among the judges / panelists, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke were able to correctly guess who’s behind the Mushroom mask.
Jenny McCarthy‘s first impression guess was American singer-songwriter, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist Maxwell. She changed her guess to Ne-Yo because the ice-cream clue made her think of Neapolitan. She said that Mushroom sounds just like Ne-Yo and is super talented as well.
For his first impression, Ken Jeong said Mushroom could be Justin Timberlake. But he changed his guess to Pharrell Williams based on the clue that Mushroom has a daughter and because of the nerd clue which he thinks refers to Pharrell’s band called N.E.R.D.
Nicole Scherzinger‘s first impression guess was American actor, singer, rapper and comedian Donald Glover. But since Glover does not have a daughter and because of the many “Hamilton” clues, she changed her guess to Aloe Blacc. She added that the alarm clock clue points to Avicii’s hit song “Wake Me Up” wherein Aloe performed vocals. Just before the reveal, Nicole also figured out that the cookie dough refers to Blacc’s hit single “I Need a Dollar.”
Robin Thicke first impression guess was American actor and singer Billy Porter. But he changed his guess and piggybacked off on Nicole’s guess that Mushroom is Aloe Blacc.

Asked why he joined The Masked Singer, Blacc replied, “Well, you know, music is truly the language that connects us all and I got a chance to experience that and do just that, here on this stage.”
Clues about the Mushroom were explained after the reveal. The buck, the cheddar, the doll hair and “Washington” are all recurring clues to Aloe’s hit song “I Need a Dollar”. The egg is a clue to Aloe’s birth name Egbert. The Kangaroo is a clue to his wife, Australian rapper Maya Jupiter.
Aloe Blacc (age 40) is best known for his singles “I Need a Dollar” and “The Man”, and for writing and performing vocals on Avicii’s “Wake Me Up”, which topped the charts in 22 countries. Blacc is also a member of hip hop duo Emanon, alongside American record producer Exile. His 2015 album “Lift Your Spirit” was nominated for Best R&B album at 57th Annual Grammy Awards.
The fourth season of the American television series The Masked Singer premiered on Fox on September 23, 2020. Nick Cannon, singer-songwriter Robin Thicke, television and radio personality Jenny McCarthy, actor and comedian Ken Jeong, and recording artist Nicole Scherzinger all returned for their fourth season as host and panelists.
The panelists also engaged in a competition for the Golden Ear in this season. After each masked singer performed for the first time along with an initial clue package, each panelist wrote their first impressions-based guess at the identity of the celebrity. Those guesses were revealed after each celebrity was unmasked, with the panelists scoring a point for each celebrity they got correct from their initial first impression. The panelist with the most correct answers will win the Golden Ear. In the Season 4 finale, Jenny McCarthy received the first ever Golden Ear award on the show.
