Riverdale Season 5
Riverdale is an American teen drama TV series based on the characters of Archie Comics. The series was adapted for The CW by Archie Comics’ chief creative officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and is produced by Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, in association with Berlanti Productions and Archie Comics. Originally conceived as a feature film adaptation for Warner Bros. Pictures, the idea was re-imagined as a TV series for Fox. In 2015, development on the project moved to The CW, where the series was ordered for a pilot. Filming took place in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The series debuted on January 26, 2017, to positive reviews. In January 2019, The CW renewed Riverdale for a fourth season consisting of 22 episodes. The fourth season premiered on October 9, 2019. But as a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic, the season ended at Episode 19. Series writer Ted Sullivan confirmed in a tweet that the remaining three episodes will be aired as part of season five, which is set to premiere on January 20, 2021.
New Zealand actor KJ Apa (age 23) zoomed to fame when he took on the role of Archie Andrews on Riverdale in 2017. Prior to Riverdale, Apa also starred as Kane Jenkins in the primetime soap opera Shortland Street and as teenage Ethan Montgomery in the comedy-drama film A Dog’s Purpose. He also starred in the films The Hate U Give (2018), and I Still Believe (2020).
American actress Lili Reinhart (age 24) is best known for portraying Betty Cooper on Riverdale and as Annabelle in the black comedy crime drama film Hustlers (2019). She also portrayed Grace Town in Chemical Hearts, a film adaptation of the novel Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Reinhart was raised in the nearby town of Bay Village. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 18 years old to pursue acting and almost gave up after five months.
