Music tells the story of Zu (Kate Hudson), a free spirit and a self-saboteur estranged from her family. Zu suddenly finds herself the sole guardian of her half-sister, Music (Maddie Ziegler), a teenager with special needs. Barely able to take care of herself, Zu struggles with this new responsibility. But she soon learns that life’s obstacles are made easier with a little help from a friend, Ebo (Leslie Odom, Jr.), a neighbor whose family story makes him someone Zu can learn from and rely upon. This powerful, celebratory artistic statement is the directorial debut of Grammy nominee and singer-songwriter Sia. The screenplay is written by Sia and Dallas Clayton, based on Sia’s short story. Music stars Oscar nominee and Golden Globe-winning Kate Hudson (Almost Famous), and Tony and Grammy winner Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton). Maddie Ziegler makes her film debut as Music.

Music 2021
Music is produced by Vincent Landay and Sia. The film will be released by Studio Canal in Australia on January 14th, 2021 and on February 1, 2021 in Austria, Germany and the United States. It is set to be released on DVD and Blu-Ray in March 2021.
The project, originally conceived as a non-musical film, was subsequently written as a musical, and will feature 10 new songs written by Sia. The soundtrack’s lead single titled “Together” was released on May 20, 2020. The songs “Courage to Change” and “Hey Boy” from the were also released as singles in September and November, 2020. In addition to the film’s soundtrack, Sia plans an earlier release of a studio album on February 12, 2021, Music – Songs From and Inspired by The Motion Picture.
