Murderous Trance (also titled The Guardian Angel) follows detective Anders Olsen (Pilou Asbæk) as he investigates a case in which a bank robber shoots two bank clerks before fleeing with the money. With the help of a hypnotist (Rade Šerbedžija), Olsen discovers a sinister mystery involving mind control and the charismatic criminal Björn Schow Nielsen (Josh Lucas) who secretly befriends the investigator’s wife. Murderous Trance is executive produced by Monika Bacardi and Andrea Iervolino, with Arto Halonen and Timo T. Lahtinen as producers. The film was shot in Denmark and Croatia. It was shown in select theater in Finland in March 2018 and screened at the Warsaw Film Festival in October 2018.
At the Gold Movie Awards 2020, Murderous Trance won Best Feature Film and Best Actor (Josh Lucas) in the Best of the Year Award category and received nominations for Best Director and Best Actor for Pilou Asbæk.
