Earwig and the Witch is a Japanese computer-animated television film produced by Studio Ghibli and directed by Gorō Miyazaki, based on the novel of the same name by Diana Wynne Jones. The cast includes Shinobu Terajima, Etsushi Toyokawa, Gaku Hamada, and Kokoro Hirasawa. It is scheduled to air on NHK on December 30, 2020. GKIDs has set the Earwig and the Witch release date for 2021, making it the first Ghibli feature film to be released in the U.S.
In 1990s England, Earwig, a 10-year-old orphan girl who grew up without knowing that she is a witch’s daughter, is taken from the orphanage by a strange duo and starts living with them.
