American Skin follows a black U.S. Marine veteran named Lincoln Jefferson (Nate Parker), who works as a janitor at a prestigious junior high school. He attempts to mend his relationship with his son. But during a routine police traffic stop, the boy is shot and killed by a white police officer. After being denied of a fair trial, Jefferson desperately seeks justice and accountability for his son’s death, taking matters into his own hands. Startattle.com – American Skin 2021.
This powerful drama is written and directed by Nate Parker, who also takes the lead role in the film. American Skin is Parker’s second feature film after The Birth of a Nation. The film also stars Omari Hardwick, Larry Sullivan, Theo Rossi, Beau Knapp, and Milauna Jackson.

American Skin 2021
American Skin is produced by Mark Burg, Tarak Ben Ammar and Lukas Behnken and is presented by Spike Lee. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September 2019, where it won Best Film in the festival’s Sconfini Section, becoming the first American film based on the theme of racial injustice to be awarded the prize. In the same month, the film also played at the Deauville Film Festival in France and the El Gouna Film Festival in Egypt. Vertical Entertainment will release American Skin direct to Video-on-Demand on January 15, 2021.
