Blake Shelton’s comment
Everybody’s right. It’s like, “Well, God, how do we even talk about this?” But, I didn’t make the rules. You both remind me of two different artists that I worked with earlier.
For you Taryn, it was Cassadee Pope. She was completely comfortable being on stage. And there you are on Broadway and you’re totally comfortable up there. And then, with Worth the Wait, Mia, reminds me a lot of Danielle Bradbery. Danielle was literally like, “Oh, what? Oh, what is it? A microphone? What do I do? I sing into it?” So talented and not so much stage experience. You know, people saw the growth in Danielle Bradbery. And it just makes it that much more of a tough decision.
On choosing Worth the Wait: I ended up choosing Worth the Wait because they’re all three great singers. That family harmony, you can’t make that up. You’re just born with it.
On Saving Taryn Papa: I’m not letting you [Taryn] leave. It’s not easy to decide which artist you want to use your Save on. Because, at this point, we’re attached to all of our team members. But, at least we have that one card to play. I saved Taryn because I feel like that’s a tough position for anybody to be in, going up against a trio, and I feel like she stood toe-to-toe with them. And I have tons of confidence in Taryn going into that four-way knockout.
Gwen Stefani’s comment
I think that my whiplash is gonna be okay. But Taryn, one thing that was really fun to watch was your personality was coming out, you know? And then, all of a sudden, you’re hitting the notes. And you’re like, “Wow, she’s really the real deal.” And then whipped over here. And the fact that you’re [Worth the Wait] related and you’re the mom and… The whole story really gets to you, you know? I’m rooting for you [Worth the Wait], guys, because I would be so curious to see what would happen next. I would probably pick Worth the Wait.
John Legend’s comment
That was fun to watch. It’s just such an interesting way to watch a performance, going back and forth. It was like a tennis match. Like, “Oh, where’d that note come from?” And then you’re like looking over here, looking over there.
Taryn, you were just fantastic. I know it’s hard going against a trio. But, you really did hold your own, and then some of those high notes you were hitting at the end, those are the things that kept bringing my neck back over here.
Worth the Wait, I grew up in a family that loved to sing together, too. It’s heartwarming to see it. And you sound great together. It’s a touch decision. I’m going to say something controversial. I’m going to pick Taryn.
Kelly Clarkson’s comment
Taryn, you have an incredible range. I really love your tone, the raspy, it’s like, it’s very cool and sexy, mysterious.
What’s interesting about Worth the Wait is, this won’t be the dumbest thing I’ve ever said, ’cause I know he’s [Blake] gonna make fun of me. But, you actually sound like one human. It’s like really crazy good family harmony. Mia, for some reason, something’s holding you back. Know that you’re awesome. There’s a reason why they probably were like, “You sing lead.” If I had to choose, the only reason why I’m leaning towards Worth the Wait is I felt like they took advantage of every single moment. It was very close for me.
