Superintelligence tells the story of Carol Peters (Melissa McCarthy), whose life is turned upside down when she is selected for observation by the world’s first superintelligence – a form of artificial intelligence that may or may not take over the world.
This upcoming American action comedy film is directed by Ben Falcone (Tammy, The Boss, Life of the Party) and written by Steve Mallory. The film stars Melissa McCarthy, Bobby Cannavale and James Corden as the voice of “Super Intelligence”. It is also McCarthy’s fourth collaboration with her husband, Falcone. Superintelligence is produced by Rob Cowan, Ben Falcone, and Melissa McCarthy. Originally set for a theatrical release during the holiday season, the film will be digitally released instead on HBO Max on November 26, 2020. It will also play in select theaters worldwide.
It was reported that New Line Cinema had purchased the screenplay by Steve Mallory in July 2017, with Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone to produce through their On the Day Productions banner. In April 2018, it was announced that McCarthy would star in the film, with her husband Falcone as director, marking their fourth actor-director collaboration. James Corden joined the cast in June 2018 and the following month, Bobby Cannavale, Brian Tyree Henry, and Sam Richardson joined the cast.
Superintelligence started production right after McCarthy finished filming The Kitchen.
