Blake Shelton’s comment
Well, you know, the right song is — is everything.
Ryan, we know that you have a big voice and you’re a trained vocalist and talented. But, Marisa just absolutely took over the room here and just destroyed the place.
Gwen Stefani’s comment
You, guys, are almost opposite the way that you attacked the song. I wanted to just watch Ryan the whole time because you [Ryan] just are at ease the entire time as you sing these perfect notes. It’s like, “Whoa! He’s not even trying, and that beautifulness is coming out of him.” And it’s so controlled and mesmerizing, and crazy to watch.
Marisa comes out here with this huge personality and passion, and ready to have her moment. It was hard to ignore that, you know what I’m saying? But, both so talented.
John Legend’s comment
Ryan, you really are a gifted vocalist. I just think in this moment, it was just built for Marisa to shine. But, that doesn’t mean she was guaranteed to do so. She had to deliver and she did.
Kelly Clarkson’s comment
I think it’s interesting, Marisa. Like, I remember in the rehearsals, you said, “I feel like I’m at a disadvantage because I’m singing a Celine Dion song.” But, what’s funny is Ryan felt like he was at a disadvantage ’cause he’s like, “Well, this song is a huge female song.”
I think also on the flip side, though, what’s cool is I’ve never heard a man sing this song, especially with your [Ryan] depth and your control. What’s deceiving about this one over here is you [Ryan] are just as powerful. So, this is my hardest Battle because you’re both very gifted. So, it’s just a really difficult decision. I’m just stalling. I’m just stalling. I’m sweating.
On choosing Marisa Corvo: Marisa vs Ryan was the worst Battle I’ve ever had to choose between. Because, they are both incredible singers. I couldn’t deny how Marisa just nailed it. She was like, “…knock it out the park.”
On Saving Ryan Gallagher: I think he’s so gifted. And, gah, his voice is so moving. You [Ryan] sound so different than anybody else here. And that’s the whole point of the show — is that it’s a voice that moves us.
