What Lies Below follows Liberty (Ema Horvath), a socially awkward 16-year-old who returns from two months at camp to a blindsided introduction of her Mother’s fiancé named John Smith. John’s charm, intelligence, and beauty paint the picture of a man too perfect to be human.

American actress, fashion designer, and model Mena Suvari (age 41) portrays Michelle Wells in the film. Suvari is best known for her breakthrough role in the 1999 film American Beauty, for which she received a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
