The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special reunites Jedi Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, Rose and the droids for a joyous feast on Life Day. Rey will have a new adventure with BB-8 to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force. At a mysterious Jedi Temple, Rey is hurled into a cross-timeline adventure through beloved moments in Star Wars cinematic history, coming into contact with Star Wars legends like Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan and other iconic heroes and villains from all nine Skywalker saga films. But will Rey make it back in time for the Life Day feast and learn the true meaning of holiday spirit?
This animated short film is set after the events of Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special is a holiday film which was inspired by the creative team’s favorite holiday classics, from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer to Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, according to starwars.com. Its approach took into consideration at how kids are playing with LEGO Star Wars and the goal became to bring over 40 years of Star Wars history together.
The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special is directed by Ken Cunningham, who also directed the TV short “Lego Marvel Spider-Man: Vexed by Venom” (2019) and the TV mini-series Lego Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar (2019-2020). Its screenplay is written by David Shayne. The voice cast of the film includes Kelly Marie Tran, Billy Dee Williams, Matt Lanter, James Arnold Taylor, Tom Kane, and Anthony Daniels.
