Our Friend (formerly known as The Friend) tells the inspiring true story of the Teague family – journalist Matt (Casey Affleck), his wife Nicole (Dakota Johnson) and their two young daughters – and how their lives are upended by Nicole’s heartbreaking diagnosis of terminal cancer. As Matt’s responsibilities become increasingly overwhelming, the couple’s best friend Dane Faucheux (Jason Segel) offers to come and help out. This comedy-drama film is directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, who previously directed the biographical war drama film “Megan Leavey” and a couple of documentaries. The screenplay is written by Brad Ingelsby based on an Esquire article by Matthew Teague. It stars Dakota Johnson, Casey Affleck, and Jason Segel.
