Unicyclist Wesley Williams puts his life in the judges’ hands during the semi-finals round of Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Series 14).
Riding an almost 30-foot unicycle while blindfolded, Wesley asked judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Ashley Banjo to guide him as he tried to get to a ladder on the other side of the stage.
The judges successfully guided Wesley to safety, and he ended up in the top three acts for the night. But ultimately, it was stand-up comedian Nabil Abdulrashid who won the judges’ vote with three votes coming from Alesha Dixon, David Walliams, and Ashley Banjo. Head judge Amanda Holden said she would have voted for Wesley because she was curious what he’s gonna bring to the final and jokingly told Nabil she loves him but he might need to bring a unicycle in the final.

Britain’s Got Talent (aka BGT) is a televised British talent show competition, and part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell. It is hosted by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (also known as Ant and Dec), and produced by both Thames (formerly Talkback Thames) and Syco Entertainment, distributed by Fremantle, and broadcast on ITV every year. The show premiered on June 9, 2007 following the success of America’s Got Talent the previous year.
Every year, contestants of any age can audition for the contest with whatever talent they wish to demonstrate. Auditionees seek to impress a panel of judges – at present, consisting of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams – in order to secure a place in the live rounds of BGT. The winner gets a cash prize and a place within that year’s performances for the Royal Variety Performance before members of the British Royal Family.
Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Series 14) began broadcasting in the UK on April 11, 2020. The series was split into two parts because of the Covid-19 pandemic or coronavirus outbreak and the resulting lockdown issued by the British government. The first half aired audition episodes between April to May, which had been filmed before the national lockdown. The second half is currently airing the remaining episodes across September to October.
Production on the second half of the series saw considerable changes including a change in the voting system. All episodes being aired weekly – a first in the programme’s history – and all semi-finals are pre-recorded.
Before the first semi-finals were to begin, Simon Cowell sustained a back injury following an electric bike accident, and was replaced by Ashley Banjo as a stand-in.
