The Stand-In tells the story of actress Candy (Drew Barrymore) who was ordered to serve a year in rehab. She hires her on set stand-in to take her place. The stand-in soon flips the script and steals her identity, career and boyfriend in this hilarious comedy about trading places.

The Stand-In is produced by Tom McNulty, Ember Trusedell, Caddy Vanasirkul, Chris Miller and Brian O’Shea. The film was scheduled to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23, 2020. But the festival was canceled due to the coronavirus or COVID-19 pandemic. It will be released by Saban Films in select US theaters and on VOD on December 11, 2020.
American actress, producer, director, author, talk show host and entrepreneur Drew Barrymore (age 45) joined the cast of the film in February 2018, with Jamie Babbit directing from a screenplay by Sam Bain. Barrymore also serves as producer on the film under her company banner Flower Films. Principal photography for The Stand-In took place in New York City. Filming was also done in Lexington and Versailles, Kentucky.
